This past week I drove to Kansas City to visit David Bird’s botanicals. I’d only ever heard of this place that sells orchids out of a cave so I had to see this for myself. Sure enough when I get there I’m directed to drive to the very back of this cave. What looks nondescript on the outside turns out to be a magical place on the inside with over 2500 species of orchids and different tropical plants. I’m informed they normally have more during their peak seasons of February and March. Bird also has the largest flower in the world that grows to over 10 feet tall and takes 14 years to even bloom. I’m a plant lover and those who are too have to make the trip to see all this for themselves.
